Ashley Pupek, 34, of Birdsboro, is accused of drug delivery resulting in death and related counts, said District Attorney John T. Adams' Office in a statement on Tuesday, June 6.

Prosecutors said the unnamed Amity man was pronounced dead in his Douglassville apartment in the early morning hours on Nov. 4, 2022. There, investigators found "evidence of illegal drug use" and paraphernalia, the DA's Office said.

The next day, Amity police and Berks detectives launched a death investigation, eventually determining that Pupek was "the supplier of the illegal narcotics" that killed the man, they claim.

The victim's autopsy was conducted on Nov. 7, but the final report on his death was not "generated" until March 20, the DA's Office continued. In that document, the county Coroner's Office identified his cause of death as "acute toxicity by fentanyl."

Berks detectives did not obtain a warrant for Pupek's arrest until Tuesday, the DA said. She was arrested at her Birdsboro home within hours, according to the release.

Court records show she was due to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
